KL-400 Amp For Sale
I came into the shack at lunch time today to find a very silent radio. I thought the wombats had got my coax, lol! I went up the hill along the coax line but it all looked good...thankfully.
I narrowed the problem down to the RM Italy, Pre / Amp. The pre amp is dead. The amp still works fine though. As you know, I manly need it for the pre amp due to my 220m of coax.
I could try to send it back under warranty, but it's from the U.S.A. so postal costs will be high both there and back, and it could take a long time. In fact I had to open it to carry out the mod to make it work above 21Mhz tearing the warranty sticker in the process, so they might make a fuss about that...
I thought the best option might be to sell it cheap as an amp and then look for another one, maybe something smaller this time (As I said, I only need the pre amp).
So if anyone is interested in an RM Italy KL 400, about 2 weeks old, barely used and NEVER used on high power, it's yours for $100 (plus postage). Remember the pre-amp doesn’t work, although it may be an easy fix, possible a dry joint or at worst a blown preamp transistor.
