First it was ‘rigs off’ around the world to reduce greenhouse emissions but now a large number of European DX Groups have joined forces to spread the word on conserving water. Sierra Golf (SG), India Fox (IF) and Club ‘Portugal Radio CB’ are just 3 of 11 citizens band radio groups who met at the 26th Free French Federation Citizen Band meeting in Brive la Gaillarde recently and welcomed a proposal by Serge 14IAA001, the India Alpha Alpha President, to unite in the war against water misuse.

Scheduled to take place between the months of May and June, the parties elected to conduct a massive radio campaign aimed at protecting the world’s water supply with organisers not only hoping to reach a large audience in France with their message but also around the world.

“We entered the project to defend this noble and important goal,” says 14IF7601 Erick. “We must all think about how we are living, change our mentalities and become responsible earth citizens. To reach this goal, good education and serious
information will be in more and more need.”

The world’s most informative on-line DX magazine, 11m DX Activities Oz’ understands that the special callsign used by all groups will be 14 ECHO PAPA LIMA (Ensemble Together Protegeons Protect L'eau Water). Furthermore, we can report that this unique communal activity will be further promoted via a special QSL card which will be available to those fortunate enough to make the log.

Points agreed on at the meeting include:

• That water is a universal thing that we are taking to future generations
• That we must preserve and protect against all private owning and buying of water
• That water is a natural cycle, without protection to this resource, it could have a disastrous impact on our ecosystem
• That water scarcity could be dangerous for the planet and people living on it
• That individual acts of water preservation, even small, allow real water economy
• That preserving water now could help us skip tomorrow's water restrictions
