Where has all the skip gone?

After about a whole cycle off air, I'm back! But it's quiet!! Very quiet!! I checked the antenna 5 times in case the co-ax was cut!!
Been up and down the band from 26 to 28 Mhz havn't heard a peep!
Is everyone just waiting for someone else to call???
Before you ask, yes the rx/tx works! Legally worked DX on other bands recently. Maybe someone else is more lucky on 11m.
