Has Delta Radio Disappeared?
The Delta Radio DX Group is credited by most as the creator of the magnificent ‘Castles and Fortresses on the Air’ (CF) or (COTA) concept. In fact, the DR Castles and Fortresses Weekend was once one of the most eagerly anticipated weekends of DX adventure in many sections of the Freeband Community with activities occurring in most continents of the world, including Australia.
Not only did the Delta Radio DX Group have a substantial following, particularly in Europe where it was based, but it also possessed a fantastic website which still ranks as arguably one of the best to ever hit the Information Super Highway.
There are growing concerns amongst COTA enthusiasts, however, that the Delta Radio DX Group has closed its doors to the Freeband World and is no longer functioning. Popular Freebanders and Delta Radio personalities such as 1DR002 Nicola, 1DR134 Nic, 14DR011 Benoit, 14DR018 Stephane and President 1DR003 Patrizias have rarely been spotted on Freeband frequencies in the last few years and the website, once the pride of Freeband use, has not been updated since the 10th of August 2004.
The purpose of this forum topic therefore, is to find out what happened to DR? Do you know of any DR members? Perhaps you’re a DR member yourself who is hoping for news of the group’s predicament or to find out whether in fact you still have a group.
