In modern times, personalised websites with a radio theme appear to go hand in hand with Freeband and 27 MHz DX operations. In fact, having a personal website celebrating one’s performance/existence in the hobby has become just about as standard as the old log book……well almost!

These days, the information super highway is littered with thousands of fantastic personal websites for DXers, all with their own unique identity, content, data, colour schemes, logos and images. These online personal libraries are an oasis of information worth sharing with radio friends or others just surfing on by; not to mention the occasional spammer dropping links to porn or sexual performance improvers like Viagra. Lists of station equipment, photos of family members and friends, even pets, pictures of the shack and antenna system, copies of QSL cards RX and owing, occasional blacklists highlighting mortal enemies, tributes to DX groups and more are just SOME of the interesting things that you will see on a personalised website.

These last unsavoury guest book visitors aside, personal websites have become part and parcel of the modern DXer’s individuality, where one’s status as a DXer of merit is only partially met with his on-air achievements. On this note, many would argue that not having a personalised website to market your radio identity is akin to eating ice-cream without the chocolate topping, drinking coffee without the sugar, eating spaghetti bolognaise without the pasta……etc.
