Had some rather unusual DX on the 11m band today! AM & FM DX!

Firstly, I started off with a 10 minute QSO from a contact near Sunbury, Victoria on Ch 37 - 27.375 MHz FM (I am on the Gold Coast). We were both running vertical Stationmaster antennas and were doing a solid 5/8 to 5/9 to each other. Now I know this is considered domestic DX, but it was a first for me in 20 years! I also heard about 3 or 4 more Victorian stations or various channels also running in FM!

About 15 minutes later, I was flicking around the channels and came accross a hoard of Victorian CB'ers all trying to talk at once to about 2 or 3 Hawaiian stations, in AM! The strongest Hawaiian station was callsign "2510" who advised he was in Honolulu! He must have been doing a 5/9 to me here on the Coast! Now I've heard stories of regular contacts like this back in the 70's, but again, this was a first for me in 20 years on the air!

Is this a sign of things to come? Is the band going to open right up for us? Lets hope so!
